TASK 2: SALARY VS. JOB SATISFACTION

Some people argue that it is more important to have an enjoyable job than to earn a lot of money. Others disagree and think that a good salary leads to better life. Discuss both view and give your own opinion.

It is sometimes argued that having a high-earning job is more important than job satisfaction when it comes to career making decisions. While I accept that this may suit some people, I do believe that choosing a job based on enjoyment is necessary.

There are a variety of reasons why many people prefer a well-paid job rather than an enjoyable one. Firstly, a wage plays an indispensable part in improving and maintaining a reasonable quality of life. Working as a sales manager or a financier, for instance, allows him to assume financial responsibility, bring up his family, and ease the cost of living. Furthermore, compared to those having low-paid jobs, employees earning big money could perhaps hold a higher position in their career as well as society, that is to say, they might gain more respect of their relatives, friends, and particularly their parents.

However, job seekers should not only place an importance on having a highly-paid salary but also place an importance on their fulfillment at work. To begin with, if a person has landed in a difficult but interesting job, he could be motivated enough to put his effort and energy into completing challenging tasks. Thereby, he could be able to get promotion, raise, and achieve success. By contrast, no matter how high the salary is, a worker may get depressed, frustrated, and unsatisfied with working long hours in a toxic work environment and with rude colleagues. Probably, he cannot be able to hold the job for very long. Thus, it might lead to an unhappy life.

In conclusion, it is certainly true that earning a nice income may give people an improved standard of living, but this is by no means the career bringing happiness should not be given priority. (293 words)
